I have been looking forward to this movie for a while now but was scared it was going to be a dud. I went to see it over the weekend and am very happy to say that I enjoyed it thoroughly! This is why I do not pay much attention to movie reviews. I like to make up my mind without outside influence though I hate throwing money away at bad movies. The Sorcerer’s Apprentice ranks up there with Percy Jackson and the Olympians: the Lightning Thief (see posting:  Movies, movies, movies).

This movie runs a gamut of genres from action, adventure, suspense, mystery, fantasy, romance, with just a ‘wee bit’ of comedy. Both adults and kids should like it provided you do not have a hard-nose movie critic in the bunch that always sees the negative and never the positive. I was really pleased and not disappointed in the least. Disney, thanks for a great movie!

And, I did get to see Letters to Juliet last week at the $2 theater (actually it is the $1.99 theater). I thought I would not get to see it until it came out on DVD in September, but I really lucked out. What a FANTASTIC movie! This one did not get the reviews it deserves. It is very enjoyable, but most men do not seem to like it as I did not see ONE man in the whole theater. I guess I am a die-hard romantic. Vanessa Redgrave was superb. Christopher Egan, Amanda Seyfried, and Gael García Bernal were great, so much so that I began to be agitated at Bernal’s character of Victor because Seyfried’s character of Sofie seemed to just let things go unchallenged for so long. Great movie!

Happy Gardening and watch the heat!
