Andy Taylor and Barney Fife from wikipedia
In the states, if you do not know this name, you have probably been living either a hermit’s lifestyle or under a rock or both. This was a man whose demeanor on and off the stage helped to carve out an existence that was so close to many a heart because we could relate to the wholesome characters that he portrayed. I, like many kids, grew up whistling the song of the Andy Griffith Show. I think of it every time I see his face. Aunt Bee, Opie, and Sheriff Taylor were all a part of my family.
There were other shows and movies but there is one memory that is very special to me. The family loaded up in the car one night and drove to our nearby drive-in movie theater to see Angel in my Pocket. I love this movie! If you have never seen it and you are a Griffith fan, I urge to see it sometime if possible. It is a treasured memory from my childhood with good times.
I am saddened to hear of Andy Griffith’s death but I am not surprised. I am so thankful for all of the good times he gave us through his acting and his music. Godspeed, Andy. You will be so missed.

I was sad to hear the news too – I loved The Andy Griffith show!
He will be missed! Take care!
Andy and the show have always been favorites of mine. I have all of the black and white TV shows in boxed CD sets and watch them often.
I also love the “Angel in my Pocket” movie. I asked for the CD version for Christmas last year.
Have a good 4th of July.

Isn’t it nice to have a piece of the past? Wow! I’ve never known anyone to remember that movie. Thanks, Lillian. We are still in a record-breaking heatwave but I guess you are feeling the same. I hope you had a wonderful and cool-ish holiday! Take care!
My mother asked me if I had heard he died. I grew up watcing Opie and his dad. I just loved the Andy Griffith Show. Just saying his name makes you whistle that tune in your head. Good thing it is only in my head as I cannot whistle to save my life…lol. He will be missed and I am glad we had him in our childhoods.
Hugs from Holland ~

Heidi, that makes me smile about the whistling. I could do better in the past but now I just say my whistler is broken. I think I learned to whistle to this show–my great aunt taught me and we watched the Andy Griffith show together–good times–good memories. Take care!
I grew up watching the re-runs. My husband and I got addicted to it more recently, so I bought him the box set for Christmas a few years ago. When we watched the Andy Griffith Show every night instead of current TV shows, I noticed some major changes in my outlook on life:
1) I didn’t feel like I had to have so many clothes–Andy had 3 outfits for 7 seasons.
2) I appreciated honesty more and clever manipulation less.
3) Sitting on the porch started to seem like high entertainment.
4) I found myself singing and whistling just for the joy of it.
5) I started to enjoy pretending I liked food someone else had prepared (like Aunt Bea’s pickles) just because it made me feel kind.
6) I stopped caring how old my car was and valued not having debt more.
7) I had a sudden desire to fish.
Who says TV doesn’t have an influence?
Those are some great observations! Our values are shaped by what we see. Just think if more people could adopt some of these things how different our world would be–or that’s what I think. I really like the last one…desire to fish :)! Simpler times; less drama; more caring… Oh, the simple joys of life. Only if we stopped to appreciate them more. Thanks so much for posting this. Hope you have a good Friday and weekend! Take care!
